Display the Assigned Number
Once FWC issues a registration number, it must be permanently affixed to both sides of the forward half of the hull, above the waterline, in a legible and contrasting color.
Carry the Registration Certificate
Operators must keep the current registration certificate onboard whenever the vessel is in use, matching the numbers displayed on the hull.
Renew on Schedule
Florida vessel registrations are valid on a staggered renewal cycle set by the owner's birth month or original registration date; expired numbers must be updated promptly.

Minimum 3 inches tall, block-style letters.
Spacing & Format
FL prefix, four numerals, a space or hyphen, then two letters (e.g., FL 1234 AB), read left to right.
Placement

Numbers must contrast sharply with the hull color for maximum legibility from a distance.
